World Cup 2010

The World Cup happens once every four years and fans from around the world expect a high standard of football. However, this World Cup has left fans wanting more as the first round matches provided very little entertainment.

One of the reasons could be because of a lack of star players. Due to injury or poor form players like Beckham and Ballack, Arjen Robben and Ronadlinho are not playing. The current bunch of players like Kaka, Rooney and Torres have not had any outstanding moments so far.

Brazil who are known for playing ‘futebol bonito’ or beautiful football have also come in for a lot of criticism as their head coach Dunga wants his team to focus on winning instead of playing ‘futebol bonito’.

World Cup reporters from around the globe have nothing much to write about and seem to be more disappointed than the fans. The biggest news from this World Cup so far has been about the vuvuzelas and the wayward Adidas Jabulani ball.

Apart from Germany, the other big names have failed to impress. England had a shocker, Spain was humiliated, Italy could only manage a draw and Argentina could only score the solitary goal. Although Brazil won, they lacked their usual style and charisma and do not look like setting this World Cup on fire.

On current form, Germany appear to be the favorites to win this world cup with Argentina close behind. Soccer fans from around the world are hoping that the games get better as the tournament progresses so that they have something to cheer for!
